3CON deploys Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform

Austrian industrial equipment manufacturer improves collaboration and simplifies design engineering and process planning across locations.

3CON Anlagenbau has chosen the 3DEXPERIENCE platform from Dassault Systèmes in order to link its global development and production sites. By implementing Dassault Systèmes' 3DEXPERIENCE platform and applications, the producer of tooling and equipment technology for manufacturing of automotive interiors was able to improve the global collaboration of its employees and ease design engineering and process planning.

Given the company’s increasing international orientation as well as its customers’ demands for innovation, flexibility and adherence to delivery dates, 3CON saw the long-term objective of constantly improving its internal processes while at the same time maintaining high quality standards. The focus of the enterprise, which is headquartered in Ebbs/Austria, was on improving collaboration between its different sites in different countries, restructuring the workflows within teams, and optimizing version and approval management.

Attracted by the possibility of combining many applications in one database, 3CON opted for the 3DEXPERIENCE platform from Dassault Systèmes. Mainly in the design engineering and NC programming the applications mesh seamlessly: Design changes in CATIA for instance lead to new NC calculations in DELMIA, which can be calculated anew by a simple refresh. In the course of viewing and redlining in ENOVIA, comments by different departments are saved and displayed in a special tree structure. Because all relevant information is managed on the same platform, the project management can keep an eye on the project milestones and efficiently control the entire project. And since all people access the same database, collaboration between all departments has been improved. Working in the context of attributes like material costs and delivery time enables a design engineer to already consider later manufacturing costs in the course of the process.

Consulting and implementation of the solution plus user trainings were conducted by Dassault Systèmes partner TechniaTranscat. “The consistent database that we now have with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform has enabled us to fully achieve our two major objectives of worldwide standardization and optimized release management. Implementation of the system by Dassault Systèmes and its partner TechniaTranscat has been executed exactly as we expected, making us fully productive at the beginning of the year”, stated Hannes Auer, founder and CEO of 3CON. “High user acceptance, approval mechanisms and standardization have enabled us to reduce the entire development process by some 30% and increase design quality. That puts us in a position to respond faster to customer wishes and changes. At the same time the newly structured and more efficient processes help us to bring our products faster to the market.” For the future, 3CON also plans to create 3D animations of the industrial equipment, also generated with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, to support sales.

3CON, an international producer of tooling and equipment technology ranks among the leading companies in its industry thanks to its highly innovative technology, for instance the hot-air cutting. The headquarter in Ebbs, Austria include project planning, design engineering, production, assembly, commissioning, prototyping as well as research & development. In the past two years 3CON has established branches in Germany, the USA, China and Mexico.
